„Why, of all things, do you handle divorces?" – I am often asked this. My preference for the German Civil Code (BGB), and thus for civil law – which of course includes family law – developed back during my studies. I was fascinated by the clear structure and systematic logic with which this code, created more than 100 years ago, still provides answers to current legal questions today.

Handling divorces in particular calls for working with the many facets and sub-fields of civil law. Naturally, for the spouses it is first about the formal divorce of their marriage – but usually far more hangs on it, especially when the consequences of divorce are to be settled: the division of real estate, the dissolution or transfer of the marital home, the division of assets, separation maintenance, pension and accrued-gains equalisation.

In these areas it is rarely only about family law. What is needed is the combination of family-law questions and economic considerations – often together with general civil and contract law, tenancy and sales law, and sometimes inheritance-law aspects too. And as soon as a divorce has an international element, the field becomes more varied still.

My legal career

  1. Studies Examination & academia

First state examination with distinction in Frankfurt am Main. Afterwards several years as a research assistant at a legal chair of the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main – working on a legal-history topic from family and inheritance law.

  2. Clerkship Court placements in Frankfurt

Placements at the Landgericht Frankfurt (19th Civil Chamber, Chamber for Commercial Matters), the Amtsgericht Frankfurt (criminal, juvenile-criminal and juvenile lay-assessor court) and the legal department of the City of Frankfurt am Main.

  3. since 2010 Own admission

Member of the Frankfurt am Main Bar Association – since then with a focus on family law.

What I stand for

I see every divorce not only as a legal procedure, but as a profound personal change.

Clarity comes first for me – legally, practically and emotionally. Listening is part of that, in order to find solutions that really fit your situation.

„Advising in an understandable way means: supporting you as a person – not just as a ‚case'."

As a mother of two children, I know how sensitive separation situations are for families with children. Especially in the interest of the children, I always strive to find an amicable solution between the spouses – and where that is not possible, I stand up firmly for your legal interests. The welfare of the child is something I always keep in view.
