Many people hesitate because seeing a lawyer feels like the point of no return. In a first consultation you do not hire us for anything. You describe your situation, and we tell you what lies ahead.

How would you like to speak?Zoom is a free program for video calls on a computer, tablet or phone. It runs in the browser, and you do not need an account. We send you the link with the appointment confirmation, and if you have technical questions, we help beforehand by phone.
One sentence is enough. Better to leave out the other side’s name, so that we can check first whether there is a conflict of interest.

Before you ask

What to know beforehand

60 minutes, at our office at Frankenallee 230 or by Zoom. You speak with lawyer Mieke Karcher. Under § 34 RVG (German Lawyers’ Fees Act), the consultation costs at most €226.10 including VAT. If we take on your case, this fee does not apply. The request itself costs nothing.

The form is a request, not a booking. We usually get in touch on the next working day and agree on a time. A retainer only comes about when we both confirm it in writing.

“I will wait a while longer” is a result too. You go home after the conversation and think it over.

If we are not the right people

Sometimes it does not fit. We say so in the conversation and tell you whom to ask instead. Two cases you can save yourself right now.

Your case is essentially criminal, inheritance, employment or tenancy law. We only do family law.

The other side is already a client of ours. Then we are not allowed to represent you. We check that before the appointment.
