First consultation Request your appointment

Three answers on one page and the appointment is set. A first consultation commits you to nothing; many people come to us simply to work out whether and how to go on.

What is it about

So we know before the meeting who will take the case.

What is it about

When and where

Only days and times with something genuinely free can be selected. Where the meeting takes place is your choice below.

Your details

We need all of these for the file, which is why they are required.

Where you live decides which family court has jurisdiction.

A few sentences are enough. We go through the detail in the meeting.

We bill under the statutory fee schedule rather than by the hour. What the meeting costs depends on the value of the proceedings, and we settle that at the start.

What you write to us stays between us. Legal professional privilege applies from the first line, even if no mandate follows.

Half an hour less in the first consultationIf the divorce is settled for you, fill in the intake form before the meeting. It covers what § 133 FamFG requires for the divorce petition and saves a good half hour in the room. It works without it too.To the intake form

Before you
ask

What you want to know before the meeting

What happens in those 60 minutes

You describe your situation, we listen and sort it out. By the end you know where your case stands legally, what order of costs to expect and what the next step is. You leave with a plan, not with a contract.

An appointment is not a decision

Many people hesitate because seeing a lawyer feels like the point where the divorce starts running. It is not. Whether and when anything is filed is yours to decide, and you decide it after the meeting.

What to bring

Bring what you have to hand, such as the marriage certificate, the last few payslips for both spouses and any letters from the court. None of it is a precondition, and missing papers do not hold up the meeting.

When we are not the right firm

Sometimes the honest answer is that you do not need us. If you agree with each other, no assets are involved and nobody lives abroad, you need a lawyer for the petition and not for a fight. We say so in the meeting rather than turning it into a larger mandate.
